Ithaca, NY moves to support gay marriage

Ithaca's a very gay-friendly place, and apparently our new mayor has gotten a huge amount of constituent mail calling for allowing same-sex marriages. here's her response:

Ithaca Mayor Carolyn Peterson is promising the City will help gay and lesbian couples change New York State law. Wedding license applications from same-sex couples will be sent to Albany for approval.

When they're rejected, as expected, Peterson promises the City will join the same-sex couples in a lawsuit against New York State.

Ithaca Mayor Carolyn Peterson says, "Ithaca has taken a different stance than other communities and what it says is that we are organized and ready for discussions with our state leaders to look at the laws."
