The legacy of Gandhi notwithstanding, have I missed out on a long tradition of Indian-American liberalism in the US?

Jindal is Christian Conservative, Ivy League graduate, Rhodes Scholar, McKinsey alumnus whose parents emigrated from India for a better life. Although no immigrant, and nobody outside the top 1% of income earners, and nobody who earns most of their income from working for a living should be voting for Republicans, obviously many people do. I see nothing in Jindals biography which would make you think he'd be more likely a Dem than Republican.
