There's been a lot of discussion about how irrational fears of terrorism have destroyed the ability of most republicans to think rationally (could they ever?). I submit there is another reason they are willing to support illegal activities and surrender their freedoms; fear of being exposed as a morally bankrupt party. Deep in their heart of hearts they know Bush is a criminal and probably responsible for the worst act of treason ever perpetrated on this country, but they just can't face it. They would rather follow him down the darkest hole in the universe than give him up and watch their party implode, so they cover his ass no matter what. BECAUSE THEY ARE HIM.
