32. Bush believes he is fated for great destiny; Christians got to him.
Frontline did an excellent show on his so-called "faith". A couple of evangelist preachers got to him in the 80's I think it was and convinced him that he was destined for great things if he could "get right with the lord". I'm pretty sure they had some political connections that may not have been apparent at the time. I don't believe in 99 percent of conspiracy theories because they depend on too many people and too many moving parts, but here is a simple one that should be investigated and publicized because it basically involves only two people as operatives. The powers that be, "they" got to him.

The Chalcedon site hits you in the eye as an elitist site. Bush is fundamentally an elitist, from birth.

Bush vaguely believes in Revelations and apocalypse and end time and evangelism and born-again-ness. Vaguely because he is not capable of deep thought or introspection. Basically, he finds religion a tool and a convenience, more than he finds it a comfort.

I am completely certain that being "born again" does not entitled anyone to twice as many rights.
