209. The Message is the issue, too many unrelated causes is not going to help

The families of the troops should be front and center. That is what this is about. The unjust war. I have no problem with the support of anyone being there but it sometimes seems that these other activist groups are trying to milk the spotlight for their own exposure. There is no doubt that most of the activist groups have the same goals as Cindy and her cause but this is not their deal.

This is the whole argument about muddying the message I think is the most valid argument, not if hippies are there or any other anti-war group. Besides, for every anti-war group there is a pro-war group and those should be the people getting criticized. As far as I am concerned no one should be pro-war. One thing is being a strong defender of our country, but another is going out to attack countries that pose no threat to us. People just love to get sucked into that Frank Luntz new-speak. It drives me nuts.

One thing that would be of help to these protests, as I have noticed in many, is that they raise a flag for once. I know the way the right displays the flag is straight up silly, but there is a way to do it right. We are demonstrating because we want to take our country back. The first thing we should do is not let the super-patriots be the only people showing it at all. It would probably be a good idea for someone that works closely with Cindy Sheehan to have someone show one nice flag prominently behind her when she speaks. We all know how ignorant Bush is and how his policies are sinking the country, but if that is all you see in the pictures it gets a bit tired. Republicans when you see them on TV always have a flag behind them, Democrats, sometimes. It may sound silly but it is like a subliminal message. Again, it doesn't have to be a ridiculous display, but it shouldn't be absent either.

Anyway, that is just my take. Sorry if this is a little ranty but some kind of discipline or structure is needed. Democrats for too long have been all over the map on everything.
