This is one of the reasons I come to the DU. It helps me to keep on keeping on when I see ACTION.

I heard yesterday from my nephew about Bush protests in Portland this week. He is a hardcore realist, but even he was shocked by the number of snipers on the roofs and the amount of force "protecting" Bush there. He asked the local media how much it cost the city of Portland to help Bush raise a million dollars for his campaign chest. On the news that evening, there was a clip of Bush bragging about the mounted policemen guarding his $2,000. a plate luncheon.

Our Kansas City group(s) are still quite alive and well too. There is much networking going on. People are getting organized around their own personal objectives: Dean, Greens/Kucinich, Miitary Families, the Black Community, LGBT, Hispanics working on migrant workers issues, a Rolling Thunder work group, the ACLU responding to the Patriot Act etc. etc.. All of us realize that we need to coalesce, so talk has begun concerning one big action that all of us will create together (probably a march in Jefferson City next year). In addition to our individual group efforts we (about 200 of us) still meet as a meta-group at a centrally located park on the third Sunday of each month. If you're ever in town, please stop by.
