its resistance. If you want to debate about the punishment, then yes it was harsh and no he probably didn't deserve to die but that is the nature of the beast. If you want to debate al-Sadr's politics, then I abhor non-secularism, as always. If you want to debate this kidnapping business, I think its counterproductive and a tactical mistake. But that does not make the resistance illegitimate.

And as for who would and wouldn't be there, if the occupation ended tomorrow, the Red Cross would remain. Foreigners guarding oil pipes wouldn't.
