My LTTE - Don't "DeLay" Start Of '06 Legislative Session!

I encourage others to write similar letter to the Editors of their local papers, and get the word out there.
Mine went to the Easton, Pennsylvania Express-Times.

My LTTE follows:

House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Illinois) wants to delay the start of the 2006 legislative session by one month in order to give CRIMINALLY INDICTED Tom DeLay (R-Sugar Land, Texas) more time to fight the charges against him, so that he might return to his House leadership position.

Meanwhile, the business of the people will not be done. It isn't like there was anything IMPORTANT to do, anyway! Long -term unemployed people could use emergency extended unemployment benefits, homeless people from New Orleans are seeing their motel vouchers expire, and our soldiers are dying daily in Iraq!

Congress recently voted themselves a pay raise...and now are extending their vacations by one month - all to serve the needs of one CRIMINALLY INDICTED Member - while the needs of the American people will go on hold! What legal authority allows Hastert to do this? I say they they give us a month off our taxes, directly out of their salaries!
