74. "any detectable amount"
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 12:09 PM by SOS
Cannabis is detectable for 30 days because the human body identifies THC as food (a fat molecule) and stores the molecule in the liver. That's because cannabis is non-toxic, unlike other drugs. The most toxic drugs (nicotine, alcohol, opiates, meth) are recognized as poison and are expelled very quickly. People have to readminister toxic drugs frequently since the drug toxins are rapidly cleaned out of the system.

So this "any detectable amount" thing is directed at pot smokers. Someone who yesterday was drunk and high on meth would get a pass, while someone who smoked a joint 3 weeks ago would be arrested. The people who sponsor this type of legislation are really twisted.
