A type of crime not being committed against the "usual" victim or for the "usual" motive is irrelevant.

As for your speculation - it makes no sense. If the motive was political, what did they accomplish? Will this justice really be ruling differently now? What, does he fear them enough to rule as they desire? (even though they made no threat to that end)

Sorry, your line of reasoning doesn't logically work out. If they have problems with his rulings then they probably would have 1. Injured him to the point that he would have to resign 2. Kill him or 3. Do a HELL of a lot more intimidation than this to accomplish any real agenda.

If these were right wing nuts more than likely they would opt for 1 or 2.
