3. I don't think they could have stopped a plant in SC in the long run...
This is the best deal they could get, and people around here are reasonably happy with it, esp. since Boeing of course had threatened earlier that nothing could be taken for granted. Now the union probably was led to believe that if they close their plant in Kansas, the work would be done in WA state, and that sweetened it. People need jobs; if the union turned down this deal, many would have left the union...
