48. Quick Answer for you
It's a close race because the "perception management" professionals spun off their own war.

Lots and lots and lots of outside money was spent -- the record by far in any judicial race in
the State of Wisconsin, ever -- and that battle end up being a "he said, she said" game that
the MoneyBags maybe ended up getting the better of.

.....It looked like a winner, at first. Years ago, Prosser, while a D.A., had ignored a complaint
about a Catholic priest. Instead, he went to the bishop and that priest was transferred --
before he was ultimately found out.

So the first Kloppenburg ads brought those salient (but somewhat dated) facts to people's
attention.

Then the MoneyBags hired one of the (now grown-up) alleged abused kids to film a spot in
which he appears on camera denying the whole thing, and giving credit to Prosser for 'helping
bring justice' to the family, and blaming Kloppenburg for continuing to insist that it could
have all played out any other way. (Piling on the family's pain.)

It was completely nauseating and probably effective, if you weren't paying attention to the
larger issues in the race.

So Kloppenburg looked like the Bad One, if you were just concentrating on what passes for
debate in judicial races in this state, these days.

....But let's keep our fingers crossed, that it all works out in the end.
