24. "Seems to me"
.... that the overwhelming distribution power of the Hollywood Studio system forces more interesting films out of the theaters all of the time keeping choice from the consumer every single time. The movies I want to see on the big screen are almost always available for small windows of opportunity and in theaters with lower quality sound systems and projection equipment. And I live in LA... we are supposedly awash in great film opportunities... we do better than some cities, but art houses suffer when the Studios dominate the theatre system.

If you want to raise Avatar up to the status of some freedom of choice trailblazer... you might as well applaud Starbucks and McDonalds for littering the world with their overhyped, and under nourished garbage.
