104. I had a clerk deny me a marriage certificate - for a different reason.

The County Clerk's Office wouldn't let me and my hubby file a Declaration of Common-Law Marriage in Bexar County (San Antonio) in 1979. He committed a misdemeanor by not carrying out his statutory duties.

Why? I refused to change my name. I kept asking him "Can you show me where in the Texas Family Code it says I have to change my name to my husband's name?".

Of course he could not do that, because there is no such statute.

I'm not surprised at the asshole population, since this idiot doesn't know about Loving versus Virginia.
