is doomed to go nowhere as long as corporatization and military action takes the lions share of taxes. Top tax rates in 1915 were at 7% then jumped to 15% & then 77% during the ww1 period. 1928, right before the great depression the rate had gone back down to 24%. The taxes were then raised to 63% in 1932 after the depression was underway and was the source of infrastructure jobs and welfare for desparate people. The highest it has ever been was from 1954 to 1963, a whopping 91% - during the post ww2 "american dream" period and initialization of kennedy's space program. Does anyone else see the picture - we had the money for programs then, we don't now.
