Basically, we can view the whole loan structure as a food chain: hungry lenders at the top will feed on the next layer beneath them, and those on the layer beneath them and the whole thing will domino right down the food chain until they come to the plankton, which just happens to be your credit card bill, student loan, car loan or mortgage.
