Whether or not you "flip 17 repubs" we have to do what is right for the good of our nation. If we do not hold Bush accountable today, then the next president (whatever the party) will take Bush as the starting point and as a measure of what is acceptable.

But if you are a pragmatist than I would have to point out that holding republican congressional feet to the fire might even be MORE important than getting Hill-bama elected. Force the entire republican party to embrace Bush and explain why they backed his idiotic policies. It allows us to run against Bush, which is probably one of the best sales pitches we have for getting party activists active again, and getting independents to the polls on our side.
