11:00 am : Stocks are on the rise with relative strength seen in the financial sector (+0.2%). The major indices continue to trade with decent sized losses, but are well off their worst levels of the session.

17 of the 19 industry groups within the financial sector are now posting a gain, led by thrifts & mortgages (+2.8%). Citigroup (C 28.68, +0.57) has staged a striking turnaround as traders speculate that the company may receive a cash infusion.
