This proves that our system of due process is perfectly capable of handling terrorists or would-be terrorists. We don´t need to declare people enemy combatants and suspend habeas corpus. Had he been acquitted it would have been ammunition for the other side´s argument, regardless of whether he is really guilty. But a jury of his peers, not a military tribunal, looked at the facts and found the man guilty. The system works and this is not so much a victory in the war on terror, but a victory for constitutionalism and law and a blow to those who say we need to suspend our liberties.
