It'd shock most progressives to realize that Trader Joes has become the Walmart of specialty grocers. Look closely at the canned and frozen produce, and look at some of the entrees you're buying. They're just as bad as Walmart... frozen broccoli from China? Wow.. we didn't have American growers available to FREEZE the stuff for out of season? When I asked the corporate customer service about all of this stuff they're importing they replied that their MAIN goal was "affordable food". How sad to see a store that I shopped in from the very beginning in Pasadena go this route. Perhaps articles like that, and public pressure, will cause stores like TJs to start thinking about the environment (how much fuel does it take to ship BROCCOLI from China), their customer's health and safety, and the American farmers.. instead of their bottom line. They did JUST fine before they went sleazy corporate.
