I just think that history is not as one-sided as some believe. The Southerners did want to break with the Union; the two sections of the country were exceedingly disparate. Kentucky was bribed to stay, but being a border state, it had an experience that no one would relish: father against son, brother against brother, etc. These soldiers on both sides were flesh and blood. They deserve to be respected as such.
