<snip>Protesters greeted Bush when Air Force One landed at Ellington Field before the fund-raiser, many toting signs that read "Bush lies, GIs dies" and "Tell us the Truth."

Meanwhile, a crowd of roughly 200 gathered across the street from the Westin Galleria to heckle the president and those who drove up to support him. One protester's sign read, "No one died when Clinton lied."

Members of the Houston Coalition for Justice Not War, Not in Our Name and Bush's Backyard Surprise planned the protest after learning of Bush's fund-raiser, said protest organizer Keith Koski, 45.

One man let his effigy of Bush with an elongated Pinnochio-like nose express his opinion that the president apparently lied about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction. Two women were draped from head to toe in black gowns, symbolizing their mourning for the deaths in Iraq.

"Bush lied about the weapons, he lied in his speech about Iraq trying to secure uranium," said Kevin Ney, 36. "And now he wants us to accept his latest excuse that the war was to liberate the Iraqi people."
