Why does being a parent make you more forgiving of Bush Jr's failings? Perhaps if he'd faced reality a bit earlier, he would be a better man.

Saving your toddler from a playground bully is not the same as defending a grown man whose policies have killed thousands. Providing fake alibis for a punk subteen who's been breaking into neighborhood homes & molesting the kiddies is a better parallel.

We've got plenty of parents at DU. If anything, they are angrier at Bush Jr than non-parents because they worry about how his policies will affect the next generation. (I care about future generations myself, but am not so personally involved.)

Bush Jr is supposed to be a grown man--what a pity he can't defend himself. And what a pity--for all of us--that he continues to do the indefensible.
