then they lost thier house and job and a family member or two and decided maybe this isn't the best circumstance to have a child? Or they're worried that the child could be negatively effected by the mold and toxins the mother was exposed to?

People don't make the decision to abort lightly, sometimes it's just the least awful option available.

PS You're assuming that life begins and is ethicly significant at conception. Not only is this a difficult decision to defend with science, it's also contrary to historical and religious tradition which placed the moment where a fetus gained personhood and abortion became a sin and potential crime at quickening, the first detectable movememts which occur sometime in the late first or early second trimiester.
