A long time ago people in this country quietly started holding police to a lower standard than normal people, not higher.

Now instead of expecting heroism and bravery in exchange for paying them, we just let it slide when a group of 5 cops shoot a 15 year old in the face 10 times because he 'lunged' at them with a kitchen knife.

This is no different. There will be a lot of hand wringing, but eventually someone will start shouting about how thirsty and tired the poor police heros were and how menacing the 'black looters' were it will all be forgotten about.
