29. how hard it must be for some of these people
who are so married to their president, so married to their party, that their lives would be so completely shattered--that their sense of duty to country would be so utterly destroyed if they just faced the facts that 1. we were lied to and 2. this didn't have to happen.

if they--for a moment--faced the fact that none of this had to happen, that their husbands/wives, sons/daughters, mothers/fathers did not have to get maimed, burned, killed it might destroy them; they can't cope with it.

the reality is too dark--they mentally can't go there.

i believe some of these people are in denial as a coping mechanism; they comfort themselves by believing there is a justification for what has happened.

some people have to believe the concept of "there's a reason for everything" or "everything happens for a reason" or "things happen for the best" (as if there is some higher power rational to it--it's magical thinking).

i used to believe crap like that until my best friend was murdered. granted, it would have been more comforting to think that there was a "reason" or "purpose" for her death but instead i took the less comforting route.

after she was killed i just believed that sometimes really horrible things happen for no fucking reason--and sometimes there is no justification for bad things happening.

these other people who have not lost someone they love, have not had someone suffer at the hands of this gop are simply ignorant as hell when they go and make a spectacle of themselves in order to protest against someone like cindy sheehan.
