IAEA should have stood up to US, says former Iraqi official
(DPA)

17 February 2005

VIENNA - The former head of the atom bomb programme in Iraq, Jafar Dhia Jafar, in remarks published Thursday said the International Atomic Energy Agency should have stood up to US pressure in the months leading to a war over weapons of mass destruction that did not exist.

He pointed out the IAEA had in advance of the 2003 war asked for more time for its inspections. However, it had already been clear at the time that Iraq had no nuclear weapons, he told the Austrian newspaper Standard.

At the beginning of the Iraqi atomic programme "we lied, at the end they did, the Americans and the British, because they wanted the war. We lied, and we paid for it. They too should pay for their lies."

Gee, they lied!

Not REALLY LBN then eh?

:silly:
