8. Board should never have been involved-- director problem
Hey,

The original headline discussed "library officials" but only one was cited, the director-- whose stance is totally out of keeping with that of his professional colleagues in Mississippi or anywhere else. Boards are not supposed to get involved in materials selection choices, but in this case the director needed overriding. I bet that board was overjoyed at getting negative national attention thanks to this director's intemperate remarks!

Alas, this news won't affect any of the stereotyping of Mississippians, librarians in the South, etc.
