"We're sorry if this joke, which got a lot of laughs, offended anyone," Bunning's campaign manager, David Young, said Wednesday.

For someone who chastised Bill Clinton for a lack of morals ( in 1993 he called him "the most despicable, the most amoral, the most corrupt person I've ever seen in the presidency") this is a half-assed non-apology that makes Clinton look very contrite by comparison.

He seems to be saying, in effect, "I'm sorry if this joke that I told, which I think was really funny, bothered some people who didn't think it was funny." Note that he's not sorry for the content of the joke, nor does he say that he believes what he said to have been wrong.
