Since Ashcroft certainly knows enough to be careful about flying, could it be that they're trying to get rid of him some other way?
There are probably untraceable substances which could cause the all-important pancreas to malfunction.
I've searched a bit on google out of curiosity - but I also think that if there's certain things that people make sure DON'T get on google, "perfect crime" poisons would be among them.
