Baghdad, Jan 7, (VOI) – U.S. forces raided a nursery school in Baghdad's eastern Sadr city and detained three of the building's security guards, the Iraqi Ministry of Education said on Monday.

"U.S. forces raided al-Kanari nursery school in Sadr city, tampered with its contents, detained three of its security personnel, and seized their weapons without providing any grounds for the raid," read a statement released by the Iraqi cabinet's National Media Center, which was received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

"U.S. forces destroyed the children's toys, the doors, windows, and ceilings of the nursery," the statement added, quoting an official source from the Ministry of Education.

"The ministry urged U.S. troops to cease their random raids on the ministry's buildings," the statement noted, adding, "The raid on the nursery did not yield any tangible evidence indicating its involvement in terrorist attacks or its use by armed groups as a weapons cache."
