15. He's walking on eggshells right now.
As far as I know, Hadley isn't under any sort of formal investigation for the real crime behind Plamegate. Hadley was apparently in a position of authority over Michael Ledeen, who met with Italian intelligence (and the Pigpen of Republican scandals, Manucher Ghorbanifar) in Rome on several occasions. We know this because when the CIA wanted Ledeen to lay off, Bill Tenet told Hadley to tell Ledeen. Supposedly, Hadley did, but the meetings continued until one day, the Italians showed up in DC, in Hadley's office.

Hadley's already taken responsibility for letting that faulty intelligence get into the State of the Union Address.

So you can see where the problem is. Hadley knew all about that faulty intelligence way before hand--he was warned about it. Hadley allowed that faulty intelligence to be pursued nevertheless. It would appear that Hadley was the guy who demanded documentary evidence--the forged documents--and it would appear that Hadley conspired with Pollari to have those documents created and delivered by Rocco Martino.

That's a whole lot of responsibility to be holding onto. Particularly since the President should have asked him about all this when he appointed Hadley to the position of National Security Advisor--well after all this bullshit went down.

So you can bet that when Bob Woodward called Mr. Hadley up and reminded him that he'd also named Valerie Wilson--before Scooter did--he's gonna do things by the book. He doesn't dare fuck with Fitzgerald like Rove and Libby are.

This might also explain why Woodward doesn't see this as a particularly big deal. So Hadley named Plame. So what? He's gonna be the last body the President throws in front of himself when the Impeachment Train comes rolling through the White House! That's the big deal!
