I have a strong hunch we're nearing the end of this. Is it possible that all that gunfire in Tripoli this morning was an attack on his compound? I hope so. Certain things that were reported like revolutionaries having to retreat and get more ammo left me scratching my head. Don't quote me, just sharing.

ایران بدن شما را روزهای ۱۷ و ۲۴ اسفند خواهد لرزاند
We're causin' utter devastation
When we're stepping to the place
And better believe that you can see
We're gonna rock and never stop
And here we go again
Hit you with the flow again
Kick it up the second time around
We'll bring it on again - shout it out

Buddy you're a boy
Make a big noise playin' in the street
Gonna be a big man some day
You got blood on your face, big disgrace
Kicking your can all over the place
(Singing)

We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you

How about little something to get you in the mood
Know what I mean?
Watch your back, we got Queen on this track
Bring the feedback, and let it drop
As long as Five bring the funk
Queen bring the rock
And it don't stop

Buddy you're a young man
Hard man, shouting in the street
Gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on your face, big disgrace
Waving your banner all over the place
(Singing)

We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you

Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,

Buddy you're an old man, poor man pleading with your eyes
Gonna make you something some day
You got mud on your face, big disgrace
Somebody better put you back in your place
(Singing)

We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you

SAS-backed Libyan diplomatic mission ends in humiliation
British special forces and intelligence agents leave Libya on HMS Cumberland after being released by anti-Gaddafi rebels

guardian.co.uk, Sunday 6 March 2011 18.17 GMT

A British diplomatic effort to reach out to Libyan rebels has ended in humiliation as a team of British special forces and intelligence agents left Benghazi after being briefly detained.

The six SAS troops and two MI6 officers were seized by Libyan rebels in the eastern part of the country after arriving by helicopter four days ago. They left on HMS Cumberland, the frigate that had docked in Benghazi to evacuate British and other EU nationals as Libya lurched deeper into conflict. The diplomatic team's departure marked a perfunctory end to a bizarre and botched venture.

"I can confirm that a small British diplomatic team has been in Benghazi," said William Hague, the foreign secretary. "The team went to Libya to initiate contacts with the opposition. They experienced difficulties, which have now been satisfactorily resolved. They have now left Libya."

...

A senior member of Benghazi's revolutionary council said: "They were carrying espionage equipment, reconnaissance equipment, multiple passports and weapons. This is no way to conduct yourself during an uprising.

...

This story is very strange. The Benghazi revolutionary council added that only *some* of them had British passports.

was clearly seen as being a little, um, undiplomatic...

Certainly, the first thing the UK Gov. should do is to recognise the Libyan National Council as being the legitimate Transitional Government of Libya, and renounce any formal legal recognition of Gadaffi's regime. I suspect this will happen very soon, maybe as soon as tomorrow.

The FRONTLINE special "Ghosts of Rwanda"? I used this, and Philip Gourevitch's We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families, as part of a university discussion on the Rwandan Genocide. The full program (2 hours) is no longer available online, but the excerpts are very good, and worth the time.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ghosts/video/

I have met and spoken with Carl Wilkens, the SDA missionary who stayed behind when the SDA's evacuated their missions in Rwanda. His story and reactions are informative, and stand in stark contrast to the actions of the Rwandan SDA pastor, Elizaphan Ntakirutimana, who was convicted of facilitating the genocide at the Mugonero mission complex.

My hunch was based in part on what I know about the tradition of interfaith relations in Egypt. Alexandria especially has a long and proud history of being a spiritual melting pot, a tradition which goes back to Hellenistic times. As a matter of fact, my own spiritual beliefs are rooted in Alexandrian syncretism.

I also know that the Coptic Christians were there before the Arabs and before Islam, and consider themselves "the descendants of the Pharaohs" even though they are a minority today. Later this historical and cultural understanding was confirmed by the chant in Tahrir Square: "Muslim or Christian, we are all Egyptian" and the images of the Muslims and Coptic Christians protecting each other at prayer.

A large-scale massacre of Copts in a church on New Year's Eve just didn't compute. It just seemed so calculated and deliberate. In other words, it had the bloody fingerprints of of a false flag operation on it right from the beginning.

30. France welcomes the establishment of the Libyan national Council
Presentation national Libyan (6 March 2011) the and supports the principles that animate him and the objectives it assigns to.
It welcomes the willingness of unit who presided over the establishment of the national Council and encourages leaders and movements that make it up to pursue their action with this in mind.
The France condemns the unacceptable use of force against civilians and its sympathy to the relatives of the victims of the ongoing clashes in Libya. She paid tribute to the courage of the populations subjected to violence, Zawyia and other Libyan locations.
It calls for full respect of the resolution the Security Council of the 1970s and a quick political solution that would allow the cessation of violence and the establishment of a democratic Government that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.

31. Though we're seeing positive change, I had a flashback to this...

EVE OF DESTRUCTION (P. F. Sloan)

The eastern world;
It is explodin'.
Violence flarin';
Bullets loadin'.
You're old enough to kill,
But not for votin'.
You don't believe in war,
But what's that gun you're totin'?
And even the Jordan River
Has bodies floatin',

But ya tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

And don't you understand
What I'm tryin' to say
And can't you feel the fears
That I'm feelin' today?
If the button is pushed,
There's no runnin' away.
There'll be no one to save
With the world in a grave.
Take a look around you, boy.
It's bound to scare you, boy

And ya tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

But think of all the hate
There is in red China.
Then take a look around
To Selma, Alabama.
You may leave here
For four days in space,
But when you return
It's the same old place.
The poundin' of the drums,
The pride and disgrace.
You can bury your dead,
But don't leave a trace.
Hate your next door neighbor,
But don't forget to say grace

And tell me
Over and over and over and over again, my friend,
You don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction.
Ah, no, no, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction.

49. K&R
Catching up with the news.

Interesting what is going on in Egypt and even more interesting that the U.S. is in talks with Egyptians officials.

Looks like someone is trying hard to hide all those documents. I hope the protesters manage to keep them from being destroyed.

So far, some pretty disturging revelations, if true.
