to have a voice equal to the elite, and the politicians and to those that own the politicians, even if it doesn't agree with my own beliefs. Free speech is about having the right to hear things that we don't agree with.

I'll be frank...ever since 9-11 I no longer trust politicians, the press or corporations because there is no doubt that our country was sent into a down hill spiral after 9-11. The message from the aforementioned was consistently it is unpatriotic to question the institutions that took us to war or that stole our treasury because they know best.

Any group that fights this absurd belief that we all should kneel down and accept what we are told from the elite, I may not agree with, but I won't trash them. This is how I viewed the original TP movement. In the beginning the Tea Party was an undefinable, uncontrollable group with pent up anger that threatened the roots of the institution of the 2 Party system, and that was basically because it was unaffiliated and uncontrollable. The 2 Party system was threatened because it could have morphed into a third party. The people that I knew who participated were not racists, but angry at politicians in general, and a government that instead of listening to their electorate only had ears for lobbyists and they spent that way. They were against the massive bank bailouts, the linkage between the federal reserve and Wall St, and spending abroad due to neo-con initiated wars, imperialism, bases and billions in foreign aid. They oppose free trade and would support taxes on the rich, especially Wall st. As far as I know there are still many who are of that fold but they've been manipulated by corporate and GOP interests, marginalized by the media and politicians and birthers and others, to make it appear to be totally on the fringe. It has been hijacked by the GOP corporatists such as Michelle Bachman, Koch Bros, Dick Armey, etc, Howard Dean himself said as much.

I was never involved in the movement but I could have easily attended a rally with my own sign and not felt at all out of place: END THE WARS, NO BAILOUTS FOR WALL ST, END IMPERIALISM, END ALL CORPORATE WELFARE, BAN ALL LOBBIES, END THE FED, TAKE CARE OF AMERICANS, PEACE NOT WAR

Even arguing with them is like an out-of-body experience.

For example, when they talk about government waste, they pretty much list every example of what they deem useless and expensive pork but almost completely sidestep corporate welfare, tax cuts for the rich and, of course, The Pentasewer and it's wars.

The thing is, all "pork" isn't exactly useless. An infamous one is "The Study of the sex life of Japanese Beetles". Well, if those beetles are wiping out valuable crops, wouldn't honing in on and containing their sex life kind of put an end to that without having harmful insecticide dropped on the crops?

Another thing they're extremely against is taxing the rich and most of them think that, indeed, they ARE paying their fair share. Uh, the reason they pay the most is because the top 10% OWN 71 PERCENT OF THE WEALTH. UNbelievable.
