Many upset charity donating food to Occupy Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - A local charity donating food to Occupy Portland protesters received a lot of angry calls Friday from people who said they won't donate anymore food to it.

"We would never refuse anybody of food no matter who they are," Straus said. "If it's their choice to camp out, they're still there. They're cold. They still need food."

"They were angry," Straus said. "They were very explicit: How dare I should do that and why would I do something like that?"

But Straus said it shouldn't matter. She has plenty of food and said most of the 300 pounds she gave away Friday was going to expire in the next day or so anyway. And she said it doesn't affect the food supply she has for the other thousands of hungry people she feeds. She stressed it's not any sort of political statement.
