I think people are waking up...
this is purely anecdotal, but we have a local initiative, pushed by our own version of scott walker... city council member Carlo de Maio...

Care to guess how many ROBOCALLS I have goten from this asshole to sign them? By my count five... just now the last one. He is at a vons oh 25 miles from me collecting sigs...

Five robocalls, he must be having a heck of a time collecting them.

There is more a local signature gatherer tried to convince me it was to PROTECT the pension system and walked away when I demanded to see the ACTUAL petition and left the area by the time I came back out of the store.

But the way I read this is... they are not getting the signatures they need... otherwise why so-far five robocalls?

1. I hope people are getting it, but what's this petition about?
That would be helpful to know.

4. That's nice.
It's OK, though. I googled the man's name and found the information I wanted.

5. For those who are curious about what this petition proposes,
here's a link to a news story on it:

http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/128465873.html

It proposes the use of 401(k)s for pensions, rather than the current pension plan for new hires.

Just in case anyone's curious.

6. Thanks.
Good grief, a pension is much more dependable than a fluctuating 401k that is as reliable as the stock market.

I'd be :grr: if I were a (thinking) constituent.

7. Why I think people are waking up
why I posted on the OP pension plan...

For the record local cops are the lowest paid urban pd in the state, same for fire. This will make them a good place for training and the good ones will move on to OTHER departments.

9. Remember they want to do the same for the Army as well
Which will lead to an older force since some folks will be grandfathered into the current system... but people who otherwise would stay for the 20 year retirement will not any longer.

10. I think events in WI last winter, and how they were actually covered by the MSM, woke
many idependants and republicans up. Shows you just how important MSM coverage of the narrative of people fighting the right wing agenda is. And how shallow a hold the GOP has on some of their followers.
