'Countdown’ on Current TV Drops 30% in Week Two
Not surprisingly, the revamped “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” on Current TV dropped -30% in week two on the cable channel. The program averaged 93,000 viewers in the key adults 25-54 demo, and 253,000 total viewers according to Deadline.com. Of course, where the ratings will settle are still unclear.

1. well, it was a summer vacation week
I am guilty. I haven't been watching every day.

He may have to up his game and let David Shuster do some investigative reporting to get audience share rolling.

2. Love Keith..not a big fan of all of the graphics and ....
it seems like there is more self promoting ad type materiel. We record it so we usually skip the crap but for some reason it seems like there is more of it on the new show.

20. I liked it best when he had the blackout background
the other night as he read sarah's emails./. I don't like the "busy" background either.

If this experiment fails it will be because they did not "roll out" a whole block of liberal programming. They could have premiered 3 shows.. 1 hour each after Keith or better yet scheduled a 3 hr morning show opposite Morning Dead Aide Show. Keith probably does not "do" early AM, but surely they could have rounded up an early am crew that could have challenged them

16. How do you know they didn't?
Programming today doesn't need to watched by "Nielsen families" to be tallied. Your cable box can report the programs its tuned to as well. So, for that matter can your computer (a website can record the number of unique IP addresses streaming or downloading video).

5. i'd love to watch it but it's hard for me to wach if I can't watch online at my convenience.
I watch rachel when I have the time not when it is on. Most everything I watch is on my schedule not around the tv's schedule. That was one of the troubles i had trying to watch keith before. he was on at 8... when I put kids to bed. I would try to watch it when it was on at 10. When I dumped satellite and got a roku, I would watch it on there the next day. Now that I can't do that, I am trying to find time to get it when I can. If he had a podcast I could make time to fit it in. I know he doesn't. Someone had it on youtube so I caught part of it this morning. But that doesn't help his numbers.

10. I'm one who didn't tune in during the second week.
But I don't have one of those rating boxes, so no one should have known. Also, I don't watch nearly as much teevee during the summer months as I do other times of the year. I would have watched had I been home, but I don't spend much time indoors during the summer.

14. This makes total sense. I bet KO's ratings will be on a rollercoaster for a while, and then it will
stabilize. Alot of people tuned in during the first week just to see his new program.

Keith will always have his own niche in the news.

I'll be more interested to see what his ratings on his first anniversary then to see where his ratings are now.

21. Probably.
Keith does have an advantage in that he's got name recognition, and that he's virtually duplicating his previous show, but at the same time, it's still a new show, they're trying out new segments and such, and he's on Current TV, which some viewers have trouble getting.

22. Probably the freepers and baggers tuning in the 1st few days
out of curiosity to see if Keith would melt down right away. I'll most likely check out GBTV for that reason if I can find it free.
