Would you consider instructing mods to delete all posts about Unrec?
This is a feature that does what the admins intended for it to do, and it is supported by the majority of posters. The only problem with the feature is the constant whining of those who oppose the feature.

Allowing them to prevail would set a precedent that makes whining about features the rule, not the exception. To reward whining is to compound whining.

It's gotten so that a handful of posters hold the rest of us hostage with their constant "well the unreccer trolls are knocking this thread down!"

Please think about having mods delete all threads about Unrec and all posts complaining about it, except those addressed to admins here in this forum. Thanks.

1. I think you make a good point.
EarlG has been arguing for a long time that we should just delete whining about unrec. I am sympathetic, as I dislike the whining myself. But my predisposition is to generally oppose "rule creep", so I am always reluctant to create new categories that need to be deleted.

What I always find amusing/annoying is how people can't possibly imagine why others might not like a particular post. Usually, if you spend 10 seconds of critical thinking, the answer is pretty obvious.

2. Thanks!
I recommend a lot of threads, but have never read "well, I see the recommenders are out in force."

I've tried explaining that some of us actually care about what appears on the Greatest Page, and use the feature to weed out those we think don't measure up. If there are three good threads about a topic and three weak ones, I'm recommending the good ones and unrecommending the bad ones.

I'll be really candid. When I read a "fucktards" or the like in the subject line, I'm unrecommending it. When it is no more than some announcement that "Rachel is really giving them hell right now," I'm unrecommending it. When it's a personal rant bereft of substantive content, I'm unrecommending it. These are the threads that I most often see the dreaded "who would unrec this" within minutes of the thread being posted.

Thanks for taking the time to have this forum and address these kind of issues. I've never wanted to bug you guys who admin by writing to you, because it's clear you have plenty on your plate, already.
