2. What's up with the GOP candidates unable to win their own states
Edited on Sun Jun-05-11 11:47 AM by aaaaaa5a

The following Presidential candidates would currently lose their home state in a general election

Cain-GA

Gingrich-GA

Pawlenty-MN

Bachmann-MN

Christie-NJ (If he decides to run)

Romney-MA or MI (he would lose both, and would be no better than 50/50 in New Hampshire)

Santorum- PA

Johnson- NM

Guliani- NY (If he decides to run)

Trump- NY

Back in the old days (LOL!) a Presidential candidate was suppose to all but guarantee his home state. But that is becoming less and less true. To be fair, we have had our difficulties with this too. Al Gore did not win in Tennessee in 2000. And John Edwards was of no help to John Kerry in NC in 2004.

In 2008, Obama nearly beat McCain in Arizona.

This is an interesting growing trend in National politics.

3. Interesting question perhaps because the home states know the candidate better and
and doesn't like what they did when they were in power there. Mitt Romney wasn't impressive and I don't believe people have fond memories of him same with the others. Christie has been awful.

8. Serious question?

Does anyone know what Mitt Romney's home state is?

Massachusetts?

New Hampshire?

Michigan?

Utah?

Christie was overrated from the start. Plus, while I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS, I high doubt this country would ever elect someone that big.

11. That weasel Pawlenty never got 50% of the vote here.
A strong Green candidate split the vote every time. Sound familiar?

13. Here are the results of Pawlenty's run in 2003

Minnesota Governors race

Republican Tim Pawlenty 44.4%
DFL Roger Moe 36.5%
Independence Tim Penny 16.2%
Green Party Ken Pentel 2.3%

56% of the vote was actually Democratic. We just split our vote into to many different corners.

His reelection efforts in 2006, went exactly the same way.

Pawlenty-46.7%
Democrat-45.7%
Third Pary-6.4%

Pawlenty was elected Governor twice with just 44% and 47% of the vote.

Wow. What they say is true, everything in life is location, timing, who you know, and luck..

9. Tim Pawlenty would not carry MN

And he would increase our chances to win in places like Virginia and NC.

Tim Pawlenty looks like a man without a home.
