What is your #1 personal reason why you could never EVER be a Republican in a million years?
For me it's wildlife and the environment. Republicans have no regard for either, and their atrocious modern-day record on the environment shows it. Most Republicans would level an old growth forest just to get a few prime logs. They'd kill the last fur-bearing animal on the planet to make a quick buck or to have a fur coat, and they'd do it without any empathy for the creatures what so ever. Republicans have become such rotten, corrupt assholes concerning the environment and wildlife that Teddy Roosevelt must roll over and over in his grave.

Although Republicans are out to screw anyone but the rich, I feel that people in general stand a chance to take care of themselves or at least fight back. But wild animals and forests? They are 100% at the mercy of ruthless assholes who would wipe them out for an extra dollar. Animals and forests wouldn't stand a chance without Democrats always fighting to protect them.

Do you have a personal #1 reason why you could never be a Republican in a million years? If so, what is it?

39. what everyone on this list said times two. They taint everything
and everyone they see, touch, think about. they have no souls. They are evil, entitled and stoopid. I loathe their party, their drunken child molesting party. I hope it dies soon before we all go with it. Our wonderful country is over because of them and they have enshrined stoopid like a national event.

2. For me it is the general attitude of almost all of them.
Which can be summed up as "I've got mine, now screw you".

That covers almost everything they do...it is all in the service of their overwhelming greed.

3. Yeah, they hate people...
Poor people.
Brown people.
Black people.
Gay people.
Female people.
Old people.
Young people.
Sick people.
Disabled people.
Unemployed people.
Educated people.
Service people.
Retired people.
Free people.

Basically, they hate any group of people that is not:

White.
Christian.
Rich.

There's a whole lotta of hate right there.

In a time when the gap between the haves and have nots is rapidly expanding, there is no way that I can support almost any Republican. I know that the Clinton years showed greater expansion than most earlier years due mostly to the incredible dot.com bubble - which would likely have happened had GHWB remained in office.

(Foreign policy and the environment are important to me and the differences in them make me support Democrats, but on just foreign policy, Dick Lugar is better than some Democrats and there have been some Republicans, who are good on environmental issues (other than the obvious big one - climate change). In fact, if John Heinz had lived, remained in Congress and remained a Republican, he would be an example of a Republican who was better than most Democrats on all environmental issues - including climate change.

12. I remember watching Joe McCarthy's hearings on TV as a kid - I have
hated republicans since then-since Nixon was VP! They stand for nothing I want and everything I don't want.
The Democrats might suck, but they don't suck near as much as republicans, and there actually are occasional really good ones, whereas there are NO good republicans since TR.

20. Republicans show total lack of empathy for people (other than.....
,,,,,rich, white, powerful), no respect for the environment, scientific method, the poor, sick, aged, ordinary human beings, other races, countries. The current version of Republicanism also has incorporated a narrowminded, intolerant, radical religious Christian evangelical cause with which to judge the rest of mankind. I despise and abhor every one of them. Comments above, ditto.

It's all about them, their money and their fears - however well- or ill-founded such fears may be.

It's an entire political movement resting on the premise that anything the conflicts with Republicans' pathetically tiny world-view and their simultaneously bloated sense of self-importance can (and must) be ignored, ridiculed and wished out of existence - simply because doing so makes them feel better.

Because of their glorification of stupidity and ignorance.

Because of their Wild-West black-and-white view of the world, both foreign and domestic.

There are a million reasons why I would rather eat worms than sign on to the Republican Party.

racism, inequality, injustice, greed, intolerance, bigotry, hatred, ignorance,(and they are proud of that ignorance!) their anti-Christian attitudes towards the poor, women, children and the less fortunate amongst us etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

They are simply un-American. I cannot understand people like this.

83. Because their core philosophy is repellent
We have an obligation to each other and human dignity matters. Allowing sick people to die because they are poor is repellent. Stigmatizing people based on their race, orientation or religious beliefs is repellent. Treating women like second class citizens with no autonomy over their bodies is repellent. Sending young men and women into the hellholes of Iraq and Afghanistan to die or be mutilated and psychologically scarred for life so they can drive their Tahoe XLs to their McMansions is repellent. Why? Because I'm not a self absorbed prick.

94. FEAR ... they control thru fear
I used to be a repuke back in the 70's (when I first registered to vote, my family WAS repuke) but I got sick to death of having to "fear" everything. :scared: They used fear ... fear of crime (aka minorities) fear of liberals taking your money on and on and on. I came to realize that the only thing to really fear was repukes!

96. I can't be a Republican in its present form - period.
Firstly I *am* a Monarchist.

But ignoring that... they in general are working for an agenda that is not in connection with their voters. It has been mainly Republican ideals vs practicality.

There are exceptions to this rule.

I can though take some things from the Republican playbook and their agenda. But the general Democratic agenda is better because at the present time it appears to be for the good of the many versus the good of a few.

102. A 70 Year Record Of Economic "F" up

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mHSyEv8vBt4/S6Zvl-nui8I/AAAAAAAAACQ/3j0wUSj78mk/s640/Job+growth+graph.jpg?

Many Americans are aware that George W. Bush has had the worst job creation record since the government began tracking these figures in 1939. But Bush's colossal failure to manage the economy overshadows a much larger story.

The record shows two unmistakable patterns:
Every time a Republican succeeds a Democrat in the White House, the job creation rate plummets.
Every time a Democrat succeeds a Republican in the White House, the job growth rate soars. Every time! No exceptions!

Considering the steady growth in population of the United States during this time frame the job creation rate should steadily increase each month (currently it must grow by 128,000 per month to keep up with population growth). This trend only manifests itself when examining Democratic administrations:

Listed below is the average job growth increase for all terms served:

104. Torture
And I don't just mean the Gitmo kind. My own political experience with Republicans is that if there is more than one way to accomplish some goal of theirs, they will consistently choose the one that makes the largest number of people suffer the most. In fact, given the chance to really screw some people over, many of them will abandon their own values and self-interest to support it. If they were tenth in line to be waterboarded, they would be whooping and hollering "kick 'em in the nuts!" as number eight succumbed.

106. A million is hyperbole since even magnetic poles change in such times and less
I don't hold much with being a post TDR Republican, a post Reagan Republican is disgusting, and a post Shrub puke is deep, deep, deep into the shit you cannot make up territory.

My reason is they don't actually believe in governance nor have any grasp of the concept of the general welfare. They have a fundamentally flawed and demonstrably failed ideology across the board. The things people "credit" them for are the big lies. They don't reduce the size or scope of government, they blow up the deficit and claim it doesn't matter, they tend to increase spending no matter how many services are slashed, and they are just generally pigshit stewards.

The underlying ideology is a mess and on top of it are ever increasing layers of nastiness. What is right as in good and correct about the heathens is infinitesimal, at best.
