NOVA: "The Great Inca Rebellion" will premiere Tuesday, June 26
Today's Inbox:

----------------
In an ancient Inca cemetery just outside Lima, Peru, archeologists made a disturbing discovery: a
cluster of skeletons dumped in shallow, hasty graves, victims of brutal injuries. Among the
crushed cheekbones and snapped limbs, the scientists find a skull bearing two round puncture holes.
Could this be New World's first gunshot victim?

Using a mix of crime-lab science, archeology, and history, NOVA, in collaboration with National
Geographic Television, reports on how this discovery is changing what we know about the final days
of the once-mighty Inca Empire. Challenging the once-accepted picture of a swift Spanish conquest
of the Inca, the findings paint a portrait of a complex civil war in which local Andean Indians
fought side-by-side with the Spanish in secret alliances to bring down an empire on the verge of
collapse.

"The Great Inca Rebellion" will premiere Tuesday, June 26 at 8:00 pm on most PBS stations. Check
your local listings to confirm when it will be broadcast near you:

1. Good stuff
I like the costumes in the background--hope they do lots of re-enactment (more than the shadowy hand-lighting-cannon stuff you see on cheap cable shows).

I'm not sure how new this knowledge is, I have known for some time that the Inca waged a protracted guerrilla war against the Spanish. So did the Maya--their last rebellion (if we don't count Chiapas now) was against Mexico in the 19th century.

3. Thank you.
I just called my SIL and told her that it was on. She informed her children that there will be no cartoons tonight-she's excited about the show.
