Glenn Beck Rally Attendees Warned Of Dangers Of DC Metro
A blogger at Maine Refounders has taken it upon himself to offer a DC visitors guide to anyone coming to the Rally For Glenn Beck's Material Wealth, scheduled for August 28th. So, if you want some not-half bad restaurant recommendations or are interested in learning how you can avoid Nancy Pelosi's house, get thee hence. That said, I find this take on the DC Metro system to be sort of comical:

If you are on the subway stay on the Red line between Union Station and Shady Grove, Maryland. If you are on the Blue or Orange line do not go past Eastern Market (Capitol Hill) toward the Potomac Avenue stop and beyond; stay in NW DC and points in Virginia. Do not use the Green line or the Yellow line. These rules are even more important at night. There is of course nothing wrong with many other areas; but you don't know where you are, so you should not explore them.

As someone who rides the Green and Yellow Lines all the time, I can assure you that there are no "rules" that state these subway lines must be avoided at all times, especially at night. But then, I guess I'm not using "A Cliche-Ridden Guide To Avoiding The Black People On The Subway In Washington" as a rulebook. Ironically, one needs to ride the Green/Yellow line in order to visit the National Archives, where the Constitution of the United States is housed. (Not that these rally attendees have any particular reverence for that document.)

Look, Glenn Beck rally attendees, if there's one essential piece of information you need to know, it is this: DO NOT STAND TO THE LEFT ON THE ESCALATORS UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING MOCKED AND ABUSED. Just remember to stand to the right on the escalators, and your visit will be more than pleasant.

They shouldn't ride it cause it's government funded!

1. One particularly racist Southern family that I know warned me about the Atlanta MARTA
and called it the "Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta".

3. I'm sure some racist Northern families have said that, too.
:eyes:

Seriously... you had to say "racist Southern family?" Why couldn't you just say, "Someone I know said..."?

13. Well .......
Rascists from Atlanta said it so that does make them southern racists.

I live in St. Cloud, Minnesota (yes Bachmann is my rep - barf) and the dog whistles were flying often and stong when they were talking about extending the twin cities rail out to St. Cloud. Shit. Everyones property values would have jumped and we all would have made out like bandits, but it was voted down largely because of a whisper campaign in churches and elsewhere to keep St. Cloud (also known locally as white cloud) clean."We" didn't want "those people" from Northern Minniapolis (code for anyone who isn't fish belly white) having easy access to St. Cloud.

FYI - St Cloud is the main hub for the distribution and cooking of Meth in the state and it is completely a white thing. Sheesh.

So yah - I would say that the asshats around here are northern racists just like the ones in Atlanta are southern racists. FYI - I thought the rail system in Atlanta was great.

8. That's been a many decades long racist reference...
And wealthy Atlanta (RETHUG) surburbanites would proudly recite it to fight progression of mass rail out to the suburbs (because it would bring the "undesirables" out there, don't you know?) :sarcasm:

12. I actually had to do that my last trip to DC
but then, that was for the Inauguration & all the trains were full, so I figured my best bet was to get on the Blue line since it went (eventually) to the stop I needed instead of taking the Yellow Line & having to make a transfer. It was the day before & things were already nuts!

5. Do Not Stand At Bottom (or Top) of Escalator to Take Pictures
I too rode the yellow line for years and cant imagine what stops they're suggesting would be dangerous. Shit, most of the yellow runs through Alexandria, one of the richest cities in the country.

who are told to be afraid, very afraid, of anything new. I've not yet had a problem using the DC Metro, even the apparently dreaded Yellow & Green lines!! Can you imagine the lil freeps standing on the metro platform at national waiting for one of the Blue Line trains?

A better thing to do would have been to tell them: STAND RIGHT, WALK LEFT, JERK! (this applies to escalators & moving walkways)

11. You mean the DC metro i mastered when i was 11 years old by myself?
And i didn't grow up there.

It is just one of the cleanest quietest safest transits ever.

17. I'm starting to think this is a fake? Look at the places he suggests to eat for Tea Baggers.....
He starts off with two Diners as i might have guessed but then goes LEFTWARD in his food choices.

Tandoori Time
Pasha Bistro
Trader Joe's

And he also refers to an asian dining guide.

Either that or this was written by a FOX STAFFER who is out of touch.
