The Senate rejected Wednesday -- for the fourth time -- a bill that would have reauthorized extended benefits for the long-term unemployed, by a vote of 58 to 38. Democrats will not make another effort to break the Republican filibuster before adjourning for the July 4 recess.

By the time lawmakers return to Washington, more than 2 million people who've been out of work for longer than six months will have missed checks they would have received if they'd been laid off closer to the beginning of the recession.

Who is f#$king trying to help the unemployed and get it passed and who is blocking it? Democrats with two Republicans (Collins & Snowe) are desperately trying to pass it (now without Byrd we are one vote short) and Republicans with Ben Nelson are stopping it. Acting like Dems and Repubs are ALL the same is TOTAL F#$KING BULLSHIT! We are heading into an election and instead of making that point clear, we have supposed left leaning websites trying to muddy up that fact. It's disgusting.

Edit to add - we have to wait for Byrd's replacement. Sucks, of course, but not exactly surprising. Ben Nelson & Scott Brown are both a disgrace. Brown should have stuck with his Maine twins and Nelson should act like a friggin Democrat.

Now those same people are up in arms over the benefit that they called shit just six months ago.

payments which are insanely expensive otherwise.

Any credit? Of course not. They are just smeared as being the same as Republicans while the Republicans scream about them being socialist big-spenders bankrupting the Country.

The idea that people who've lost their jobs or are otherwise struggling in this economy would turn around and vote for the people who fought against giving them any type of help or assistance just seems idiotic and mind-boggling to me.

The idea that left-leaning websites or pundits would help promote this "blame the Democrats" meme is just too stupid for words. How much additional assistance do they think people will get if they help flip the House or Senate.
