Dallas man says the July 4th flag he bought has 61 stars
Like many Americans, Tim Childress of Dallas bought an American flag to help celebrate the Fourth of July.

He was a little taken aback, however, when he found that the flag bought at a Dollar Tree store not only has the requisite 50 stars denoting the states, it tacks on an extra 11 stars, WFAA-TV reports.

"You can kind of see the stars are all crooked, and if you count them, there's actually 61 stars," he said.

Childress concedes he paid only a dollar for the flag but says the Dollar Tree and the Virginia marketing company could do a bit better, and he sent them an e-mail pointing out the error.

28. Flag Store USA & Annin & Co.......
Flag Store USA

http://www.flagstoreusa.com/

Flag Store USA has been a family run business since 1971. Our products are made by Annin & Co., the world’s largest and most experienced flag manufacturer. We sell only the highest quality, American made flags, for less, and provide each of our customers with superior service. We hope you find the flags, flagpoles and flag accessories that you are looking for at Flag Store USA.

***********

Annin & Co.

http://www.annin.com/

The American flag was less than fifty years old when Alexander Annin began making US flags for the merchant ships in his sail-making shop on the New York City waterfront in the 1820’s.

Since that time Annin & Co. has grown and prospered along with our nation, the story of our company is interwoven with the story of America itself:

It was an Annin flag that flew at the inauguration of President Zachary Taylor, starting an inaugural tradition that has continued through the inauguration of President George W. Bush.
An Annin flag draped the coffin of President Abraham Lincoln on its journey from Washington D.C. to Springfield, Illinois.
The U.S. Marines raised an Annin flag atop Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima in 1945
NASA selected an Annin flag to participate in Apollo 11’s mission to the moon in 1969.
Today Annin & Co. is America’s oldest and largest flag company, remaining heads and shoulders above any other U.S. flag manufacturing company in the United States.

**********

Hope that helps!

29. On the web search page, type in "US flag made in America". There
Edited on Tue Jun-29-10 03:26 PM by Obamanaut
are several entries.

For Memorial Day, there was a big display of small, grave marker style flags in our local WalMart. The flags were made by one of the made in America companies.

ETA The flags were from the company listed by DUer 1776Forever, in post #28

2. Meh.
Manufacturer used a star print "fabric" (what is that? Plastic?) with a stripe print, and they didn't scale properly.

You get what you pay for.

16. And the cheap quality indicates we'll probably have more Republican "leadership"
They'll probably split Iraq and Afghanistan into 11 states, and even though we still won't have "won" over there, they will have each declared a state. We'll be so broke by then we'll have to buy plastic flags from China for our government buildings.

21. Those flags are meant for TeaBaggers to wave at their rallies.

They figure the more stars they they have on their flags means the more patriotic they are. :eyes:

Palin would probably tell them that.
