Anyone else having the same problem?

Microsoft browser won't let me copy the ERRORS except for some of this:

Error Report Contents

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16414 ModName: mscoree.dll
ModVer: 2.0.50727.42 Offset: 00004c44
C:\DOCUME~1\ELLENP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\af23_appcompat.txt

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: mscoree.dll
ModVer: 2.0.50727.42 Offset: 00004c44
C:\DOCUME~1\ELLENP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1218_appcompat.txt

I tried to search for the text file and that made it crash, too.

Dontcha just love it?

2. Why would 'appcompat.txt' search make it crash?
Honestly, I feel like a Zulu with a barb in my arm...

Come and operate on me, oh Microsoft God in the Sky...

Damn it.

20. Before messing with windows, try using these tools in safe mode
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 09:33 PM by BushDespiser12
Don't know if you have these tools-- but you might have a bug or 2. Run them in safe mode for greatest benefit.

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06 at http://www.lavasoft.de/

Spybot-Search & Destroy at http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html?part=dl-spybot&subj=dl&

If you use these tools. don't forget to dowload newest definitions after initial installation ( prior to running scan ).

Update: Sometimes after cleaning you computer and ridding it of malware, you may have to reset your hosts file to connect to the internet. This program will restore connectivity: Winsockxpfix availabe here:

4. You might try closing and reopening Explorer.
Or rebooting - always worth a shot.

Other than that you can go to Windows update and see if there's a newer browser version you need to download.

6. Thanks, folks. I switched to Firefox just for now. I'm so sick of Windows problems.
My husband said he's try to repair Windows.

I'm just going to try and stay connected.

Thanks a bunch!

16. Tell me why cuz I'm a dinosaur and if something is working, I am
hesitant to go to something new - I'be been burned by this before-especially when I update some program and it does 'bad' stuff. I am willing to try it if it is significantly better and you apparently think this is the case. Thanks in advance.

none of the features are supported.

15. I'm not using Outlook. We have Comcast webmail system which comes
with our subscription. It keeps emails on their server, which is very handy when we travel.

I'll have to investigate Thunderbird. I don't know anything about it.

Appreciate your post.

27. Karl, does Thunderbird store my emails on their server... or on my computer?
If it's like Outlook, it won't work for us. I believe Outlook is still storing email on the user's computer.

We've gotten used to being able to access our email on the Comcast server -- wherever in the world we travel. AT&T Worldnet did the same (our former ISP). No, we don't want to use a program that will access our computer from afar (I've see it on TV commercials -- GoToMycomputer.com is the name, or something like that. We would have to leave two computers on all the time when we go away for weeks! Not good...)

Are mobile phones wiping out our bees?
Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees
By Geoffrey Lean and Harriet Shawcross
Published: 15 April 2007

It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail.

11. Thanks so much. I've read it... now... but don't get in trouble...
You may want to edit because of copyright problems. I get my hands slapped by using more than four paragraphs of a story.

19. DU moderator got me on some copying off a magazine site last week.
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 09:22 PM by Radio_Lady
I don't think it's very clear, but if you stick with the "no more than four paragraphs copied" edict, you'll be safe.

You might want to go to the UK site's policy page and try to decipher it. It's a lot of "legalese" and the DU would not be happy with your copying the whole article.

Thanks.

It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail.

They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees that pollinate crops. Late last week, some bee-keepers claimed that the phenomenon - which started in the US, then spread to continental Europe - was beginning to hit Britain as well.

The theory is that radiation from mobile phones interferes with bees' navigation systems, preventing the famously homeloving species from finding their way back to their hives. Improbable as it may seem, there is now evidence to back this up.

24. I had no problem pulling it up with Firefox
Since I began using Firefox, I haven't had any problems with my computer. It's great for rejecting pop-ups and tracking cookies that many websites place in your computer. It's not conducive to my email either but it's worth the hassle of having to use another server for just email. Firefox also has a "tweak guide" that you may find useful should you decide to use it as your permanent server.

I'll give it a try but believe it or not, I still cannot get to Nance Greggs journal page in IE.

That was the original problem!

Thanks again.
