So a new guy started today, just set up his computer at his desk
Sales guy to replace a guy who is out on disability for a few months (not a permanent position) He wanted ClusterFAUX as his home page (alarm bells, sirens, cannons going off in my head).

When I told him it's blocked here (pats self on back) because it isn't 'news' and management is wary of the influence on productivity, he went fucking ballistic.

Wait till he finds out ALL of the Freepturd sites are blocked here.......

42. Yeah, but the owner is on vacation so I'll find out next week
why this guy is no longer there. It must have been a while ago because they've owned us for over a year and I never saw him there. maybe he was a 'casualty' of one of the GM/Chrysler dealer franchise revocations.

the look on his face was priceless........

He is a small version of Joe the Plumber, big belly, bald, and talks like a typical car salesman (Happy Days vocabulary), which is sad he was chosen to replace the older guy temporarily. The guy who is out is one of the few classy guys in the business.

49. I don't know about dealerships
but a lot of sales jobs are not employee jobs- you're an independent contractor, using their space and equipment to make sales. you get paid commissions, so if you don't work, you lose. It's your own problem.

Not sure if that applies here, but it is true for real estate jobs, etc.

I post on at work, and my INMMEDIATE supervisor who is a Dem thinks DU is a hoot, so I post without fear of retribution. The son of the owners, who also happens to be a LIBERAL and a lawyer (his parents are Repugnants) is more concerned about me 'guarding the gate' than posting on DU a couple minutes a day.

For a Republican, he's actually a very nice man as long as you don't discuss politics with him. He's an oilman, and is about to drill Williamsport, PA. (Marcellus Shale)

It's not arbitrary. We don't sit in the server room and go "heh...let's block THIS site...that'll show 'em!"

Free Republic is blocked as a Hate site, DU is not.

Websense can get false positives, though. When I first started at my job I was setting up my normal favorites, one of which was a site call Girl Geeks for women in IT. Well I got the big block page with "Access to this Porn site is blocked" RAN to my boss' office to explain that one! LOL

But I digress..

unwanted stuff on another worker's computer; getting vicarious pleasure from someone calling another names and possibly causing mental discomfort; congratulating someone for their "evil deeds." Bullying must be ok if one knows the bully and/or doesn't know or doesn't like the victim - even if all one has to go one is the embellished story of the bully.

All in the name of "It's my equipment." I'm sure it is. No one ever lies on the anonymous internet.
