1. Problem is...
I am still hoping it doesn't come down to just these two.

Anybody else ever get the feeling that Obama and Clinton are the front runners only becuase of the media hype?

31. I've thought the same thing.

I'm really tired of the MSM and the GOP telling us who we want as our nominee, who can win, who can't win, etc.

When I was in school, we were taught that the voters got to decide those things. When did that change?

59. You may very well be right. It is not hard to construct a scenario
in which both Hillary and Obama implode and someone else wins the nomination.

While I like Edwards, Clark, Gore et al as much as I do the front runners, I must admit a bit of reluctance to hope that the woman and the Black will be #1 and #2 in the polls for a long period of time, only to be taken out by a white male in the end. Call it white guilt, reverse male chauvinism (I made that one up), ultraliberalism looking for a "first" in the presidency or whatever, but I think it would be ironic if that happened.

I know that "this election is too important to take a chance", "no to dynasty", "untested", etc. I know that many have important policy, character and other issues with HRC and Obama. They have every right to support whichever candidate they choose.

and gets the big mo'. And I pray to God it's Obama instead of HRC. I can't see him blowing it. He's been very smart on the campaign trail so far, despite his supposed lack of experience.

Has he ever been involved in a hard contested campaign?
He won his Senate against Alan Keyes in a year when my cat could have been elected as the US Senator in Illinois (provided she ran as a Democrat)
I'll be interested to see how cool he is under fire over the next year.

on note: I am registered in Illinois and I voted for Obama for Senate.

58. For me it's not a matter of that
I'm still voting for Edwards.

But, can Sen Obama hold his own in a hotly contested Presidential election?

For all her faults, I know the HRC can give as good as she can take.

Is Obama that seasoned?

He's got a year. I guess we'll find out.

I'd still rather have Edwards though.

33. I have a co-worker who is pro-war, listens to Rush Limbaugh
but probably is not a big fan of Rush. This guy is certainly very conservative but a nice guy. I have heard him rip on Hillary and Bill Clinton many, many times! He doesn't like Tom Delay and thinks Delay seems corrupt. He lives in Grand Junction, CO which is typically very conservative.

Anyway, once day were were sitting in this apartment the company rents out for us and the news was on and they showed Obama and my co-worker just said he liked him and he seemed like a nice guy. I can't tell you anymore than that. I think that it just comes down to the fact that Obama seems like someone just about anyone would enjoy knowing and being friends with. He is just a very likable person to both Democrats and Republicans. He seems like the type of guy who EVERYONE would like in Hight School. He simply has star power!

I like Obama and Edwards out of the current crop. Would like to see Clark and Gore get in.

We don't talk politics much so he would have no reason to lie about it. He just said it when Obama came on the TV. It came across as a sincere statement. He simply said he "liked Obama" and thought he seemed like a nice guy.

49. Too much experience can taint someone
I think someone young, uncorrupted and not burnt out on politics is the way to go. It seems the longer these people are in politics the worse they get. It's like an old Collage Basketball Coach who has lost the flame compared to a young coach who still has the fire.

51. I would agree with you in another time, but
we are in a very dangerous time, and foreign policy experience is necessary, IMO.

I am very impressed and happy that Obama seems to be inspiring alot of people, but he's just not ready yet for the presidency!

You have picked a winner, he will do great things......just not in 2208!

If he can continue to inspire people, gain valuable national/foreign policy experience, and be more specific on his own policy issues, he will have a winning combination in the future.

He's a very bright guy, probably the best Dem public speaker since Mario Cuomo and seems to have supported reasonable policies during his time in the Senate.

I'm not committed to any candidate yet, but definitely like Obama and Edwards if neither Gore nor Clark is an option.

Some might vote for her over a Republican but no one I know is just crazy about her. I think her support is soft and her numbers could drop fast. I think she is fine but nothing to get excited about and I don't see myself working for her unless it's a very close election.

Nope, no history of that at all.

I'm with you - I have NO idea how to explain that.

i LOVE the faux-pretend-innocent-ignorance that white folks so consistently express. And without even a HINT of a smile.

53. He made it to the Senate. There are black congressmen/women,
mayors, etc.--there have been for a while. They are maybe underrepresented, but they received white votes, all of them. And if the polls show him winning against a lot of opponents, there's no reason to assume the polls must be wrong--unless they don't fit someone's preconceived notions, that is.

52. Have you considered
the vote in southern states.

Brian Copeland who's black, filled in for Bernie Ward on KGO radio last week and doesn't believe Obama can win any of those states, due to his race.

D.L. Hugely on Bill Maher's show Friday basically said Obama couldn't win either because of the racism in our country.

People seem to be thinking about it, but they are not talking about it!

Do you feel it is a factor and one that should be talked about?

Or if Hillary signs on as Veep after Obama wins the nomination?

Or if either one signs on as Veep after Edwards wins the nod?

How about if Obama changed his name to "Brock O'Bama" and ran as an Irish-American?

Okay, that last one was just to break the tension here! :-)
