Restaurant Boycotted over "Barack Obama Room"
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 02:16 AM by SoCalDem
http://www.anaheimwhitehouse.com/

Just heard this in the local channel 2 (CBS) news..

The owner's "under attack" by "local patrons", who refuse to eat there because they don;t like an "african american in the white house"..

:puke:

The guy's getting hate-filled faxes & e-mails from his "customers"..

This is a 4-Star restaurant in Orange County CA (Anaheim)..

The link goes to their website..

A 1909 historical national landmark jewel that was once nestled quietly among an enormous orange grove in the early 20th century, Anaheim White House is still Anaheim's most famous hidden treasure.

Very few changes were made in the refurbishment project. The restoration was copied from original existing pieces, whenever possible. The interior of the home was restored with most rooms retaining their original size and shape. The brick fireplace in the library (now the main dining room) and many of the windows are original. Every effort has been made to retain the appearance of the home as it was in 1909.

In 1987, Italian immigrant Bruno Serato took over the ownership of the restaurant, which now features steak and seafood with a Northern Italian cuisine. His award-winning excellence and signature entrees befit the establishment, now Anaheim White House Restaurant, and his philosophy is simple: to treat each and every one of his patrons as a distinguished guest in his home. Simple as it may be, Anaheim's once "hidden treasure" is now recognized worldwide, and is now a "home" to many.

2009 marks the 100 year birthday of our lovely restaurant. Come celebrate your birthday while we celebrate our 100 years! Starting In January 2009 we are offering various Centennial Specials, to learn more click here!

You'd think the right-wingers would be happy since they have a room dedicated to St. Ronnie.

2. OC isn't that far from LA county. Maybe it's time for people from liberal
LA to make a point of patronizing that restaurant. It won't make a difference if none of the OC Repukes show up if they do.

10. Maybe a "Girl's Day Out" luncheon?
Make a date with some good friends and treat yourselves.. Lunches at swanky places are usually a fraction of what dinner costs..or click the link at the end of their blurb for some "centennial specials"..

13. Looks like a beautiful place.
I suspect that the "boycott" is only one or two imbeciles. Even in Orange Co.

Racism at The White House

The Anaheim White House restaurant that is.

The owner of the White House restaurant decided to honor our first black president by dedicating a dining room for him. I have always wanted to eat here because it’s fancy and has themed rooms. Past presidents like Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and George Washington have rooms of their own as well, but not surprisingly the Barack Obama room caused an outcry.

snip

The owner of The White House is upset that many people are threatening to boycott his restaurant just because of one room. He donates a lot to charities for children and if people decide to stop eating here just because Obama has a room, it will hurt his efforts to help underpriveliged children.

You can read the full article here.

At least a half-dozen or so volleyed harsh comments back at him via their own e-mails. A press representative of Serato's contacted the Register and showed a reporter copies of the emails from patrons who were offended by the Obama Room.

"I am not an Obama supporter," read one angry e-mail. "I could never be, and as much as having an African-American in the White House could be a good thing, having one with Marxist ideals is certainly not a good thing! I will not be patronizing your restaurant, much less the 'Obama Room.'"

Another plays off of the Anaheim White House's ad slogan, "Orange County's Hidden Treasure," by saying:

"Do not insult us with a Barack Obama room. … You have no idea whether he is a great leader or a hopeless Socialist. You may regret your hasty judgment of what he will do to this country. May you remain Orange County's hidden treasure, with the emphasis on HIDDEN!"

"You must be kidding?" reads yet another. "He didn't do anything yet other than weaken our internal security. Maybe you could house all the Gitmo (Guantanamo Bay) internees there instead."

Serato, who provides free meals to hundreds of children everyday and raises funds for charitable causes, said he was upset by the rancor – particularly because he has almost half a dozen other rooms named for presidents of all ideological stripes.

"I'm not a politician, I'm a restaurateur,"
