Freepers annoyed that the new whitehouse.gov was
uploaded so fast. They seem to think that the old version should have been left there, even after * was no longer President.

Buncha morons!

That's just dumb. They had around 75 days to get the new site ready. That's more than enough time.

And someone should have given him a shopping cart to haul them away with. Along with a complimentary case of really cheap bourbon.

8. If it ever occured to them to think, "wait a min, I wonder what previous presidents have done"
Then they could go back and discover that the same thing was done with Bush transitioned with Clinton. It's not "expected" or "polite" that a new administration uses its OWN web space to maintain the information of a previous administration.

Bush will have his own website, and his speeches, orders and whatnot will all be in historical archive.

But of course... no one should expect the people at that site to ever buy a clue.

So should Clinton's. That's been an annoyance to me for a while. I just went looking for Bush's first proclamation yesterday, and guess what, can't find it. All the crazy shit from the last 8 years, no record of it. We need a new site for former presidents.

That is not Clinton's web site at all. It's what that university chose to keep and as you say yourself, you're not sure how complete it is. They should move them, exactly as they were, to a different domain. Not hard at all. I'm really surprised somebody on the tech team didn't think to do it.

Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 01:15 PM by Kalyke
Anyhoo.... I went to the Clinton Library website and, voila:

http://www.clintonlibrary.gov/links.html

http://www.clintonlibrary.gov/archivesearch.html

You can look at the archived versions of each of his five redesigns and the links still work.

P.S. The National Archives and Records Administration also keeps the documents: http://www.archives.gov/

You don't trust the National Archives? That's their job!

But, what you could do is go to the new site's contact page and pen a note to Macon Phillips, the new media guru, and ask him where all the information from the old website is stored - I'm guessing it goes to the National Archives, but he'd know better than I.

And how long would be acceptable for that site to still show Bush's ugly presence even after he'd gone....

A day?

A week?

A year?

I have a suggestion for them...there are probably a million pictures of Bush on the internet. They should print a few and tape them to their monitors over Obama's face wherever it shows up. Maybe even laminate a couple of wallet-sized photos for the wife and kiddies to carry in their duct tape wallets.

I guess it must really suck for them to see the insulting quickness with which 2/3 of Americans (and most of the world) want to forget Bush ever existed.

Yes, Jesus overturned the tax collector tables in the temple because He advocated a separation between Church and State, as evidenced in this phrase, "Rend unto Caeser what is Caeser's and unto God what is God's."

He certainly wouldn't advocate that posters pushing his/her religion onto other people who may not not believe in the same manner.

Is there any way to download the president’s agenda as a PDF or something? I can’t stand having to click on a different link for every different aspect of the agenda. I’d rather print the whole thing out so that I can take it home, read it, pray over it, and then set it on fire.

to previous versions of whitehouse.gov. That stuff will never really be gone.

But, for the morons at FR to think that a new President wouldn't immediately take that government-run site over and replace the previous administration's content with its own is the pinnacle of stupidity, it seems to me.

40. Of course they're annoyed! They're still running dialup!
Their brains, let alone their systems, can't handle the new, slick, web 2.0 site.
This is the typical Freeper computer system (you've seen how low-grade their site is).
IBM PC/AT 700mhz
33.6Kbps dialup (Service provider: AOL)
64Mg RAM (32mhz DDR)
40mb HD
Floppy disk
4x CD-ROM
Windows ME, no service pack.
IE 6.0, no updates.
Sony Trinitron screen (the 20lb big ones)

They can't even handle DU, let alone WhiteHouse.gov.

47. They're finally ready to start the Bush administration?
Because they weren't ready to say that the Bush years had started because of that gosh-darn budget surplus Bill Clinton left. But George took care of that toot fucking sweet. Then Bush's presidency really couldn't get started because of 9/11. Then the invasion of Afghanistan. Then the invasion of Iraq. It seemed like there was always something derailing the True Start of the Bush Administration. That whole Terri Schiavo fiasco was another diversion. And the re-election campaign. And the 2006 mid-terms. Gosh, it seemed like there was just never going to be a time to let Bush be Bush. Then the mean old Democrats kept trying to pass legislation out of Congress, and Dubya was so busy vetoing stuff, he didn't have time for presidenting. And now Obama's in the Oval Office, and dang but Bush never really got a chance!

Fuck you, you fucking Freeper fuckers. That was your presidency; everything you ever dreamed of from the warrantless wiretaps to the anthrax poisonings to the torture. It went exactly as scripted, and they didn't waste a goddammed second.
