36. Listening to Hastert - he's totally punting.
He isn't trying to go up against Al at all. Just talking about all of his experience and knowledge. Bottom line - he supports letting the remarkable innovative spirit of America (no doubt personified by the "green BP" ads you see) take care of the problem. Less regulations and taxes....

He didn't want to rile Al up or try to battle him at all. He knows he'd be destroyed.

110. Republicans don't seem to be able to get passed
nuclear or coal ONLY. They don't seriously discuss/entertain any of the creative or alternative measures that are available, but just need to be developed and that Al presented in his opening remarks today.

I guess it's b/c repubs represent current established and big interests. And it's true what I heard someone say on NPR some years ago. It's like when the automobile came onto the scene, none of the buggy (as in horse-and-buggy) manufacturers took the step forward to be a big player in the new market/technology of the auto - they were BUGGY manufacturers - and they eventually all went under. It took new entrepreneurs - creative people - to develop the auto - not the old buggy manufacturers, who were resistant to the change, which ultimately led to their demise.

Al Gore is a leader/champion of this new wave of technology that MUST come to the fore. Republics would be wise (not that that's possible for them) to take heed, me thinks.

116. China has invested HEAVILY
in solar due to the fact that they don't have the infrastructure in place to offer electricity to many of their rural areas. They are in a great position to take advantage of the solar market before we do...

If we had a solar lobby in this country comparable to Coal and Nuclear - they would blabbing about solar.
